Evaluation of the vibration effect on the onset and development of convection in an inclined layer of binary mixture

The influence of high-frequency vibration on the onset and development of nonlinear regimes of convection in an inclined plane layer of a binary mixture was investigated The linear stability maps in the plane of two parameters - the Rayleigh number and the vibrational analog of the Rayleigh number were obtained. It was found that transverse vibration increases the stability of the quasi-equilibrium state. With an increase in the tilt of the vibration axis, the tilt angle of the layer and the magnitude of the concentration gradient, stability decreases, while the wavelength of the most dangerous disturbances increases.

The results of linear stability theory were validated by direct numerical simulation. The results obtained can be used to control convective regimes in multicomponent mixtures using vibrations.
