Experimental determination of shape and amplitude of the pressure pulse induced by an impact of a single laser pulse using photon Doppler velocimeter data

pic5 The profiles of the pressure pulse generated by a single laser- pulse impact and causing the propagation of a weak shock wave in a material were obtained experimentally based on the data from a photon Doppler velocimeter and taking into account the parameters of laser shock peening.

The experimentally obtained pressure pulse profile was used to correctly formulate the boundary conditions for the numerical simulation of residual stresses generated by plastic deformation of the material caused by the propagation of a weak shock wave.
